African countries import $25bn worth of food yearly –AfDB President

In order to meet their food and nutrition require­ments, the President of African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Mr. Don­ald Kaberuka, has disclosed that African countries im­port about $25 billion worth of food each year, with only about $1 billion worth of such imports coming from intra-African trade.
