Presidential Fertilizer Initiative Programme has commenced. Eleven blending plants are in now in full operation in different locations across the country. The fertilizer will be sold to farmers at a price of N5,500 per 50KG bag only by State Governments, registered distributors and dealers registered with FEPSAN. Intrested distributors/dealers to participate in the scheme can register with any of the blending plants and at FEPSAN office at No 1. NIDB Building, Muhammadu Buhari way, Kaduna. Whistle blower Nos: 08175777724, 08175077773

In total, the technique is being experimented in 113 communes across Mali. In the regions of Sikasso, Ségou, Mopti or Timbuktu. Fifteen (15) "bonbon ni" fertilizer production machines are installed and run at full speed. Machines acquired by the peasants themselves, without subsidy. This is the result of an IFDC project called the Large-Scale Distribution of Deep Fertilizer and Micro-Dose (FDP®) Investment Technology. A USAID-funded three-year project that ends this year.
Deep fertilizer placement involves placing a compacted fertilizer pellet between 4 rice plants 7 to 10 cm deep, seven days after transplanting, explains Cheick Mamadou Diarra, the new coordinator of the FDP MD project. The fertilizer used may be urea, NPK or DAP. In Mali, the placement is essentially by hand. This fact may soon change because IFDC is working on the creation of an applicator accessible to Malian farmers.
The benefits of an agricultural innovation of the future
With the old method of spreading on the fly, peasants and animals are exposed to stocking. For, in case of rain, runoff water carries away fertilizer thrown into wells and ponds in which men and cattle drink. This fear is forgotten with "Bon bon ni".
In addition, economically, the advent of granulated fertilizer was a good deal. Both for farmers and machine owners. Thus, the machine owners invoice the granulation of one tonne of urea to 35 000 FCFA. After two years of activity, with an annual average of 60 tons of granulation, most machine owners recover their initial investment.
